Cyveillance Enhances Anti-Phishing Service to Protect Against Growing Use of Malware
Cyber Intelligence firm identified more than 50,000 fraud-based malware attacks stealing personal information in March alone
ARLINGTON, VA., May 14, 2007 – Cyveillance, the world leader in cyber intelligence, today announced availability of its blended Phishing and Malware Protection service to help customers combat the emergence of phishing attacks that integrate malware to defraud Internet users. Fraud-based malware attacks, which leverage software specifically designed to collect personally identifiable information to commit identity fraud, are one of the fastest growing segments of online risks; Cyveillance identified more than 50,000 fraud-based malware attacks compared to 20,000 traditional phishing attacks in March 2007. Blended attacks combine traditional phishing techniques to lure consumers to sites that download malware and are far more dangerous and harder to detect than classic phishing schemes; this new Cyveillance service provides customers with a proactive approach to protecting their reputation, brand and customers from the latest identity theft risks.
“As phishing and fraud-based malware attacks grow more automated and harder to detect, the need to keep security solutions current with the latest technology becomes even more evident,” said Panos Anastassiadis, CEO of Cyveillance. “Our new blended phishing and malware protection service ensures that customers receive the protection needed to shield their customers from these most dangerous forms of attacks.”
By adding malware detection to the Cyveillance Anti-Phishing service, Cyveillance provides customers and partners with a complete solution that covers all aspects of malware-based phishing attacks, from detection to recovery. As new phishing/malware sites are detected, Cyveillance customers are updated in real-time, protecting them from zero-day exploits and polymorphic malware which are often missed by traditional signature-based technologies, such as anti-virus. Cyveillance has discovered more than 2 million Web pages that distribute malware and has confirmed that more than 50,000 of those pages perpetrate financial fraud or identify theft.
